Host general event/forum/debate (20 points) 20 We hosted a "know your rights" event with local defense attorney Dan Viets who serves on the national board of NORML and helped author the New Approach Missouri Bill for medical cannabis in the state of Missouri.

Policy changed or adopted (100 points) 100 Convinced Mizzou's wellness center to change the wording in the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Annual Notification to include a summary of Missouri’s Good Samaritan Law. Through our efforts and convincing, this mass email that goes to all members of the University of Missouri Community (over 30,000 people) about the legal and health consequences of drug use now contains a summary of Missouri's good Samaritan Law.

Host general event/forum/debate (20 points) 20 MUSSDP hosted a speaking event with Eric Sterling, the director of the Criminal Justice Policy Foundation. Mr. Sterling focused on his role in the drug prohibition as Assistant Council to the House Committee for Justice's committee on illegal drugs during the Reagan administration.

Distribute educational materials (1 point per person reached) 200 Handed out a stack of 200 "Know your Rights" cards to students and parents during Mizzou's "summer welcome" to inform people of what their rights are during a police encounter, including the right to freedom from un-warranted search and seizure as well as general advice about things you can say and do during a police encounter to avoid criminal charges and give your lawyer a good defense for you in a court of law. Cards were provided by Dan Viets, on the National Board of NORML, and co-author of the Missouri amendment to legalize medical use of cannabis.
