Meet with decision makers (20 points) 20 SSDP, University of Ghana paid a courtesy visit at the residence of "Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan," the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, who is also an Executive Member of the Chamber of Pharmacy, Ghana and the Vice Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Importers and Wholesalers Association, Ghana. The team led by the Chapter President Clement Bofa-Oppong, shared the core vision and mission of SSDP during the engagements and urged her as both a major stakeholder in the pharmaceutical industry and a Parliamentarian to help expedite actions to hasten the passage of the "Narcotics Control Commission (NCC) Bill" which is currently before Parliament awaiting consideration into Law. This we believe as SSDPers will be a step towards reforming our current drug policies to see problematic drug users as citizens who need help through public health, rehabilitation, counseling, education, social integration etc and not subject them to Criminal Justice Systems with its associated incarceration, stigmatization, violence, punishment, social exclusion etc. Hon. Seyram assured SSDP of her willingness an readiness to support our course and encouraged us to continue the good work we are doing.

Meet with decision makers (20 points) 20 SSDP Ghana National Executive paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Francis Torkonoo, the Executive Secretary of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) at his noble outfit. Together with other Staff members of NACOB, we held series of discussions centering around the status of the NCC Bill which is currently before parliament, NACOBs preparation towards the upcoming High level Ministerial Segment of the 62nd session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs(CND) happening at Vienna, Austria as well as NACOBs plan for youth CSOs who are working in the area of drug policy reforms. In all it was a very worthwhile and fruitful meeting and visit to NACOB. In attendance was Mr. David (SSDP Ghana Chapter Leader), Clement (SSDP University of Ghana Chapter President) and Charles (SSDP UPSA Chapter President).
Host campaign-themed event/forum/debate (20 points) 40 SSDP University of Ghana and Wisconsin University Chapter embarked on a mega Campus Sensitization through various Lecture Hall Addresses to Talk to Students about SSDP and Educate Students on Drug Abuse precisely the Abuse of Tramadol by young people and the negative repercussions of the Harmful and Disastrous War on Drugs. They received our message so dearly and shown much acknowledgments and interest in what we doing as SSDPers!

He used the platform to generally sensitize Ghanaians about SSDP and the great work being done by young people here in Ghana and various Civil Society Organizations to bring a change in the status quo in the sphere of Drug Abuse and its Policy Reforms. He called upon Government and our Law Makers to expedite actions towards ending the disastrous war on drugs especially those that harm the youth. The team had the opportunity to educate, interact and inspire hope in some individuals who happen to be problematic drug users and as results, have become homeless or neglected by their families. The team members engaged some security personnels around like the police to see problematics drug users as equal citizens who needs help instead of stigmatizing and imprisoning them.

Host general event/forum/debate (20 points) 20 SSDP GHANA had its end of year Retreat on Monday, January 7, 2019 at UPSA. The focus of the retreat was to fraternize amongst members, share the misssion and vision of SSDP to members, and plan activities for 2019 together both at the national level and various chapters and campus level. It offered an opportunity for all chapter members to meet together to take stock of 2018 and subsequently come out with a solid action plan for 2019 with specific goals, strategies and objectives to be achieved during the course of the year. Experts were invited to share knowledge and offer directives on advocacy work and also guide the various chapters to shape their actions plans.The retreat was really a nice and educative one and we believe this will propel our activities to great success in 2019
Host general event/forum/debate (20 points) 20 SSDP GHANA held its 2nd annual National Open Forum on Drugs on 24th August, 2018 at the university of professional studies auditorium. During the forum, Mr. Yaw Akrasi-Sarpong, a former Executive Secretary of the Narcotics Control Board, called for a review of Ghana’s national policies on narcotics, stating that reform is needed to ensure people with substance use disorder can receive crucial medical services. The forum had a great turnout and focused on proposing innovations to current drug laws that will have a greater positive impact on children and young people. Since the conclusion of the forum, SSDP has been using the media to call on Ghana’s parliament to form a committee which would discuss passing a new national drug law.

Attend leadership or skills-building training (5 points per person per training) 10 Clement and Amanda of SSDP, UG represented in the AFREG-GHANA Youth leadership and Mentoring Summit from August 22 to 24, 2018 in Accra, Ghana. The summit was organized by the International Leadership University and it was a training to help catalyze building leaders of integrity to transform Ghana through transformational community building initiatives and projects. Each was certified for partaking in the three days intensive training workshop. They gladly shared what they learnt with the other team members as a means of building their capacity.
